What We Do

A Positive Alternative: Women's Recovery Center, Men's Recovery Program, College Student Program to Prevent Addiction.

Our Non-12 Step Based Outpatient and Gender Specific Program is unique in the region. Since 1990, we’ve based our program on what psychological studies have determined to be effective. NOT anti-AA, we ARE Anti-"there is only one way" to recovery from alcohol, substance abuse or dependency.

Our therapists have decades of Master’s Level Chemical Dependency AND Mental Health clinical background.

Our clients are high-functioning, intelligent people. Our safe, small, respectful and supportive groups allow for complete honesty. We rarely have anyone in a group with legal issues - yet highly motivated individuals are welcomed.

Our groups are no larger than 8, there is an intimacy and support that is quite unusual in any but the best therapy groups of any kind.

People who choose our program are those who seek a more complex psychological understanding of addictive behavior, and the skills necessary to achieve and maintain an alcohol and drug free life. We combine habit change with deeper psychological changes for handling depression, anxiety, relationship issues, conflict, stress, and emotional regulation in general.

We have a close connection with the University of Washington Psychology Department. Their Pilot study of "Mindfulness for the Prevention of Relapse" was so successful in reducing relapse with our clients, that we immediately implemented the program with all our groups.

We’ve been so fortunate to be able to have working with us the Psychologist who was the "Trainer of the trainers" from the UW Psych. Department as our Mindfulness for Relapse Prevention Specialist.

Since our inception, we have continued to incorporate the latest scientific research that has proven to be effective with addictive behavior - beginning with research going all the way back to the 1970’s showing that Gender Specific treatment is ALWAYS most effective with Women.

It was the women themselves that demanded something similar for their male partners and friends. For over 10 years, our experience with the Men's Program is that it is equally important and effective for men to have a program specifically designed for men.

Our most recent addition includes our College Student Program to Prevent Addiction. College Students are faced with an environment saturated with abusive alcohol and drug use by their peers.

Our non-labeling program for college students seeking practice and skills to enhance and amplify their ability to choose abstinence, is based on Motivational Enhancement methods that allow the power to choose to come from each individual’s deepest values, rather than anything imposed from the outside. This program refrains from defining College Students as Life-long Addicts and encourages healthy, non-drug or alcohol oriented support groups and community. Eligibility requires no legal obligation.
